Burn Fat Not Sugar!

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By Michelle Wollaston You are going to be pleasantly surprised! Most people think that in order to lose weight you have to do strenuous exercise, continuously, and lots of it! Well, Guess what? NOT TRUE! I know you are thinking? That’s crazy! It doesn’t make any sense! I thought the same thing, when I first heard this. But it all comes down to understanding how your body works. By exercising 20 minutes a day average, you can reduce your craving for the wrong kinds of foods that result from your life stresses. SO let’s explore that concept of how the body really works! Your body has two ways to create energy. Your body can turn fat into energy, or it can turn blood sugar, glucose, into energy. But it can’t do both at the same time. At any time, your body is either burning fat, or blood sugar. When your energy demand is low, your body burns fat. When you are walking, working at your desk, driving a car, and even sleeping - the demand for energy is low so the body is burning fat. But as soon as your activity levels increase - your body turns to blood sugar since fat cannot be converted into energy quickly enough. Let’s take an example. You are walking down the street to the bus stop (burning fat), and you see your bus start to close the doors and ready to leave. You start running - and very quickly your heart rate and your breathing will increase, and your body will begin to burn blood sugar instead of fat. Constant strenuous exercise conditions your body to burn blood sugar, instead of fat. Wow! That is an eye-opener, isn’t it? These types of strenuous exercises are great for the heart, lungs, and circulation, and you may want to do these AFTER you lose the weight. Until then, try anaerobic exercise that doesn’t increase your heart rate. Try long, slow walks, because they are burning fat while you walk - but as an added bonus, you are conditioning your body to burn fat, opening up fat burning systems, burning calories, and building muscle Weight lifting is another great exercise for losing weight because it will build muscle and muscle burns fat. Yep, that’s true. The more muscle you have the more fat your body burns every day. Don’t get me wrong - I am talking easy weight lifting, such as with 5 or 10 pound weights, and limit this to about 20 minutes a day, every other day. Alternate walking and weight lifting during the week - take Sunday Off. It is really that simple! Start your walking program easy too. Start with 5 minutes out, and then come back. Over time increase to 10 minutes out, and then come back; then 15, then 20. 20 minutes out and 20 minutes back - 40 minutes total every other day. Then stay consistent! One of the biggest problems with strenuous exercise is that people sometimes injure themselves early on in the program, and then that’s the end of it! All you need to do is walk and weight lift - light workouts. And once you have gotten started, do it consistently. This easy exercise program combined with a program of nutrition, information, and personal coaching can be just your ticket, to getting rid of those unwanted pounds forever. Wedding Hair Style - Achieve The Perfect Beautiful, But Formal Look

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Michael Barrows With formal hairstyling trends taking a step back from the rigidly crafted styles of yesterday, today’s wedding hair styles are free, natural and a great deal easier to attain than they were a few years ago. But even though this is true, the bridal hair style is probably the most important style that you are going to choose for quite a while so it is best served by a little research and practice before the big day. On your wedding day, hundreds of eyes will be on you, and your chosen bridal hair style can either complete the picture or detract from it. That is why it is so important to choose the perfect formal hairstyle well in advance of the big day so that you and your stylist can get it right and make custom additions to your wedding hair style. Nothing is worse than a hastily crafted coif decided upon only minutes before the ceremony. You can begin your search for the perfect bridal hair styles and bridesmaid hair styles by browsing through style books that highlight formal updos and popular wedding hair styles. While looking, keep in mind the style of dress that you have selected and choose wedding hair styles that compliment the style, era and cut of the dress. The same thing goes for your bridesmaids dresses. Another important thing to consider when choosing bridal hair styles are the styles, lengths and textures of the bridal party’s hair. For example: if every member of the bridal party save one has short hair, selecting a French Twist as your only bridesmaid hair style would not be very feasible. But you could do a French Twist on the one member with long hair and select different wedding hair styles for the rest of the party as long as it doesn’t bother you that everyone is not going to look identical. When it comes to coordinating your wedding hair styles for your wedding party, you do not have to choose cookie-cutter styles for each member of the party. Look instead at bridal hair styles that compliment each member’s personality, facial structure and hair texture. Let your wedding party members have some say in how they would like to wear their hair and set some practical guidelines such as whether or not the bridesmaid hair style should be pinned up off of the neck or allowed to flow free down the back. Then, coordinate the individual bridal hair styles by using matching accessories and placing them in similar patterns on each member. These pointers apply for the bridal party only; the bridal hair style should set the bride apart from the others and be more intricate and beautiful than all other wedding hair styles chosen by members of the wedding party. Once all bridal hair styles have been chosen, have a practice run where all of the ladies meet at the same salon and allow the stylists that are going to do the wedding party’s hair on the big day have a crack at crafting the intricate wedding hair styles that you have chosen. While it may cost you a little bit of money to do this, it will save you a great deal of headache on the big day. Michael Barrows’ website gives great advice for good hair. Stage 3 - The Worst Part Of A Relationship - Disillusion (B)

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Elaine Sihera The most noticeable thing at the start of this torrid stage is that the glasses have lost their rosy hue and are now crystal clear, with extra zoom lens added to focus on every tiny detail as the differences in each partner become magnified and appear far less attractive. At times you seem to have so little in common, everything the other person does is wrong. Little irritations which were cute before are suddenly yuck now and you wonder how you fancied her in the first place! You begin to notice that he is untidy while he notices that youre very stubborn. There is some pulling away from each other, a need for space, a chance to breathe, as life slowly returns to normal and your work, leisure activities or college commitments assume importance again. That is when you might discover that you are behnd in your project, or in the book you are desperate to write! He could also find out that his finances are in trouble due to wining and dining you so much, or that he has missed important sporting matches and the antics of his football heroes, things he suppressed in the besotment stage that you didnt even know mattered to him. But that is only the beginning as his real personality emerges. Reality rapidly sets in, but a new kind which requires some understanding, acceptance and commitment from both parties. Your partner is now an extra person, perhaps with children in the picture. From where youre sitting, that means a whole new perspective, and perhaps a daunting one. How you cope with this new situation will dictate everything else in your life. Faults, Problems and Raw Emotions With disillusion setting in, you suddenly see your partner as human. That romanticised notion, and the specialised vision youve had until now, crumbles away to reveal a real being, with real faults, real pain, real problems and real emotions. But often that is not what you are quite ready for. That reminds you too much of the real world and brings new anxieties. At such a time it is very easy to get on each others nerves, which is an essential part of the familiarisation process, nothing special or unusual, and no one is exempt from it either. But how we cope individually depends upon our expectation, our level of confidence and personal aspirations - the invisible forces wwe bring with us. As someone once said, On the other side of disillusionment comes the real marriage. This stage of remorse and regret builds the foundation upon which the couple can live out their chosen relationship, but first comes a lot of nit-picking and fault-finding as many expectations are dashed. One reason for this encroaching anxiety is that P.E.A production of Stage 2, which helped you to become so loving, begins to decline. As we regarded the other person as the source of our good feelings, so we now blame her when we dont feel as good! Things you once liked about your partner now become sources of frustration and hurt feelings. It sometimes feels like love is dying. You begin thinking, or even saying, things like: Is this what the rest of my life is going to be like? while becoming apprehensive and adversarial instead of trusting and cooperative. Sometimes it feels as if you are walking on eggshells because little molehills so easily turn into big mountains. Frequently, one or both of you will engage in blame, criticism, sarcasm and put-downs as anger and resentment build up. The key words here are He used to… or She used to… which indicates something of value is no longer there and is sorely missed. Moreover, even though you dream of intimacy and closeness in a relationship, once you actually have it, it can start to rub a little and small irritations add up to large ones. There is now a wonder at the loss of privacy and a yearning for it, but privacy is always the first thing to go once you move in together or formally tie the knot. Herbal Aphrodisiacs

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By Marcus Peterson Aphrodisiacs are drugs or other agents arousing and intensifying sexual desire. Herbal aphrodisiacs specifically affect the hormonal balance of the body and are useful for maintaining existing physical desire. Aphrodisiacs, made from potent herbs and flowers, are considered a safe and reliable alternate source of medicinal therapy. Documents, dating back to more than 60,000 years, illustrate the usage of herbal aphrodisiacs. These are not recommended for those who have high blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, difficulty in urination due to prostate enlargement, or are pregnant. These are harmful if you are suffering from nervousness, tremor, sleeplessness, loss of appetite, or nausea. Herbal aphrodisiacs are plant substances traditionally consumed in a variety of ways as teas and infusions, decoctions, syrups, mead, and other beverages. Others are used as spices, food, pills, and capsules. Some aphrodisiacs have a slow effect, while others illicit a fast response. These can either be applied to the sexual organs or used mixed with any drink or food. Some are available as oils, salves, and ointments for massage, while others are used as snuffs and enemas. Rose, honey, chocolate, cannabis, angelica, opium, ginseng, and many culinary spices contain proven aphrodisiacs. Essential oils include rose, sandalwood, ylang-ylang, patchouli, cinnamon, and vanilla. Among available herbs, kava-kava root and Damiana leaves are popular and boost sexual activity. Coriander, cardamom, clary sage, patchouli, neroli, sandalwood oil, lavender, pumpkin pie, black licorice, and donut scents are the commonly used herbal aphrodisiacs. Yohimbe, one of the popular herbal aphrodisiacs, promotes blood circulation and acts specifically on the sex organs, bringing blood closer to the body surface and constricting the veins to keep it there. Natural aphrodisiacs are safer than artificial enhancers. Today, a variety of herbs, roots, berries, and other eatable substances are available to enhance the libido. Herbal aphrodisiacs are available through a mail-order service, and a number of international distributors and retailers deal in these products. Fat Removal And Liposuction With The Latest Body Sculpting Treatments

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Robin Derry Fruit may be a great thing for your diet, but evolving into a pear body shape early in life creates a serious “dragging anchor” on your self image as well as your vitality. The hard muscled flat tummy of youth gives way to a rounded big stomach, sandwiched in between ever-expanding love handles that threaten to burst blouse and shirt seams. Body Image Solutions That Deliver Results? Of course. You now have a “Chinese menu” of body aesthetic possibilities. * The Hard Core Exercise Option. On one hand some fat waist solutions involve the marine drill sergeant approach involving barking gym instructors and punishing exercise regimens. Realistically, the only people able to endure these upper-tier fitness programs are the same people who typically don’t sport love handles, humongous fat thigh and butt shapes. * At Home Exercise And Body Shaping. You “can do” if you put your mind to it. Reshaping your body image, reducing sagging skin and a fat waist can be achieved with the new crop of hybrid exercise programs…from walking and running clubs to at home training programs like Yoga Booty Ballet, offering stretching strength yoga ballet and dance in a targeted program that can rapidly lead you to body contouring success, as you shed 10 to 20 pounds or more and just as many inches off your torso and lower body. LipoSelection - The High Tech “Energy” Treatment For Body Fat. Created by Sound Surgical Technologies, the proprietary Vaser LipoSelection treatment is low impact, only requiring local anesthetic to the treatment area, such as the fat waist or love handles that men often complain about. Plus, you can realistically “harvest” a pound or two of hard-to-reach body fat, without the physical drama and risk of full-blown cosmetic surgery. * Fat Swelling Saline Injection. Next, a saline solution is injected, which has the effect of dilating local blood vessels but swelling-up body fat cells in the treatment site. * Love Handle Fat Rendering Via Ultrasound. Now, for fat cell zapping and getting into serious body sculpting possibilities, the Vaser micro-cannula probe is inserted, where it can directly focus ultrasound energy on these engorged fat cells? Result? Love handle waist fat cells literally liquefy, as they absorb the energy from the Vaser probe, for easy extraction via a suctioning device. Adding to the efficacy of Vaser LipoSelection as a low impact results-oriented body sculpting tool is the mechanical or massage like manipulation of the treatment area, which further assists in the desired breakdown of waist fat cells. * Low Pain Low Impact Body Shaping. Down time is minimal with this form of high tech ultrasonic treatment. You’re in one day, back on the job comfortably in 1 to 2 days, or earlier. Meanwhile, you’ll be asked to wear a compression garment around the treatment area in order to remove pressure, and to promote rapid safe healing. * Advantages Over Traditional Liposuction? Of course, new body shaping technologies like LipoSelection always push the “benefits envelope’. With LipoSelection, you avoid much of the surgery risks associated with liposuction where an aggressive probe-and-suctioning manipulation beneath your skin (sub dermal) creates the risk of equal damage to fat cells, nearby connective tissue, blood vessels and nerve fiber. LipoSelection avoids this because the ultrasound waist fat liquefying energy only targets fat cell, which absorb the energy, whereas other more structured cells (blood vessel, nerve fiber, connective tissue) simply reflect the ultrasound and are mostly undisturbed. Choosing the Right Pots for Your Plants

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By Harriet Hodgson Whether they are green plants, flowering plants, succulents, cacti, grasses or trees, different plants need different kinds of soil and care. Choosing the right pots for your plants is part of this care. Flower pots can be as simple as terracotta pots and saucers, or glazed pots with hand-painted designs on them. How can you find the right pot? 1. Match the style of the pot to the style of your home. A tall, slender pot blends in beautifully with modern decor. Casual, folk art pots fit right in with country style. No matter what the style of your home is, make sure the design of the pot doesn’t “outshine” the plant. 2. Think about maintenance. Though terracotta pots and planters absorb moisture quickly, they also dry out quickly. Ceramic pots are sealed with glaze. Some glazes are plain and some are crackled. Wooden planters are unsealed and you may have to seal them, and continue to seal them, to prevent fading and splintering. 3. Think about the general location of the plant. Deck pots and container garden pots have to be sturdy enough to withstand weather. Your pots should allow for drainage. Put large saucers under large pots to protect wooden decking. You may also wish to buy hanging plants for your deck or patio. 4. Keep scale in mind. Perhaps you are buying a plant for your coffee table. A pot of chrysanthemums will look right at home on a large table, whereas a small bonsai plant will look right at home on a small table. Place an indoor tree in a tall area that allows for growth. 5. Learn about plant growth. Some plants prefer tight quarters and others prefer large quarters for their spreading root systems. Choose a flower pot that suits this growth. Find out if the plant needs direct or filtered sunlight. Your local flower shop or nursery can advise you on the best pot for your plant. One final tip. Keep in mind that large pots are hard to move after they are filled with soil. You may wish to buy a rolling plant mover when you buy the pot. And check discount stores for faux stone pots made of plastic or resin. These pots are attractive, lightweight, and last for years. You may be lucky enough to find flower pots at church rummage sales, local flea markets, and antique shops. Many of these pots are one-of-a kind and you won’t find them again. When you see a pot you love, buy it. (You may be able to talk down the price.) Nothing sets off a plant more than the right flower pot. Happy hunting! How to Find a Good Equity Company

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Talbert_Williams]Talbert Williams Various companies online are offering equity loans to homeowners. It depends on the lender, butsome offer equity loans at rates as low as 1% rates. These rates may seem appealing, buthomeowners are encouraged to read on to find out how much the 1% will cost them over time. Ifyou are considering home equity loans, you might want to go online and use the variouscalculators to determine your goal in home equity loan. Some calculators are for first time buyers and will help them determine cost of rentals versus thecost of buying a home, while other calculators will help the homeowner decide if his choice ofhome equity loan is valid. In other words, the calculators can help you review your decision totake out a second loan on your homewhether or not you have already done so. Homeowners considering second equity mortgage loans are advised to review their first loanterms and conditions, searching for clauses or penalties. If the first loan has clauses andpenalties, you want to make sure you understand the agreement to avoid financial burden. Fewlenders offer loans that stipulate that if the borrower opts for another loan during the term of themortgage that he/she must repay the first mortgage in full before the second loan is optional. Thus, this means that you will apply for an equity loan that will repay the first mortgage in full atthe same time covering the cost of the second mortgage. Thus, various companies online offer generous loan amounts, including lower repayments onmortgage and interest; therefore, learn all you can about mortgages and equity loans and use thatequity loan education to make the best possible decision. Being careful and picky when selectinga equity loan can only help you in the long run, as you will have to commit to long term paymentfees and interest rates. Great Relationship Advice: How to Balance Your Hear at Work with Your Heart at Home

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Jeff Herring Remember the Tom Cruise movie “Jerry Maguire?” From my seat in the theater, this movie had a much more valuable message than it’s catch phrase “show me the money.” Tom Cruise plays the title character Jerry Maguire, a fast moving sports agent who lives for the big score and makes big money. After an attack of conscious, he is let go by his firm. Cuba Gooding, Jr. plays his one remaining client, football player Rod Tillman, a player with talent and an attitude that gets in the way. Jerry Maguire has his heart in his career and leaves very little of himself for his relationships. As is true of many men, it’s said in the movie that “he is great at friendship, lousy at intimacy.” Rod Tillman is a talented athlete who loves and has a great family, who while talented, just doesn’t have his heart in his career. Without giving too much away, by the end of the movie, each of these men had found a way to put their heart into both family and career. Unfortunately, our lives are not exactly like the movies. In the movies, each person has a script and as many takes as they need to get it right. Most of what we do is live. Having said that, let’s look at some ways to successfully put our hearts into both work and family. Putting your heart in work In her book “Care Packages for the Workplace: Dozens of Little Things You Can Do to Regenerate Spirit at Work” Barbara Glanz uses the acronym of CARE to offer us several suggestions on how to put our heart into our work. We’ll look at each of these letters and suggestions for using them. C - Creative Communication We live in an information society. This means that on a daily basis at the office, we are bombarded with communication, some important, some meaningless. In order for what we communicate to stand out from all the rest, it has to be unique in some way. Consider what you can do to liven up and personalize communication in your office. A - Atmosphere How many of you believe that work ought to be fun? So does Joel Goodman, Director of the HUMOR Project, who says, “It is important that we take our jobs seriously……. and it is also important that we take ourselves lightly.” R - Reason for Being All of us need to feel like we are a part of something important and special. Glanz recommends creating a “personal mission statement” for your life and work. This is not to be confused with a corporate mission statement about a company. It’s a statement of how you see your life and work. E- Enthusiasm For the lucky among us, it’s easy to be enthusiastic about our jobs. For those that have a more difficult time, Glanz says “the challenge is to find your own passion - what small thing about your job can you love?” And then build from there. Putting your heart in home As you arrive home after another long day at the office, does it ever occur to you that you are about to begin what is really your most important job? Being a part of your family. Most women tend to instinctively know this while most men need strong reminders. (I believe it’s a genetic defect). In discussing the balance between work and family, I wrote about work first, not because it’s most important, but because I wanted to save the best for last. I know too many people who have sacrificed their families on the alter of success, only to wind up professionally successful and personally lonely. From what I’ve seen, it’s not a very attractive way to live. Consider a few questions with me - What would happen in our families if we applied the same CARE acronym at home? - What would it be like to find creative and fun ways to communicate with those with whom we live? - What would it be like for the teenager who has been giving you trouble to find a note from you under the pillow that simply says, “I love you and I’m glad you’re here?” - What would it be like to come home to an atmosphere where you could be yourself, feel loved, and grow into your full potential? - What if your reason for being, that which your life was organized around was your relationships? How would life be different? - What would happen in our families if we brought as much enthusiasm home with us as we had at the football game? Could home become an exciting place to be? I realize that I’ve asked more questions than I have answered at this point. It’s just that I believe we need to begin asking ourselves these questions in order to achieve a balance between work and family. In our increasingly complex society, a major source of stress is the delicate balance between family and career. Beginning to ask these questions can steer us towards solutions we can take home. Choosing Your Wedding Color

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Denise Sanger Should you use your favorite color for your wedding theme? What happens if your favorite color is yellow and your wedding is in the winter? Its still your wedding and your choice if you want to use yellow, but you may not want to use yellow as the main wedding color but more of an accent color such as the mini roses in the bouquets or as the ribbon around your wedding favor. Color can be used in so many ways for weddings. From an accent color to the main color theme used in everything from the bridal party dresses to the table cloths and napkins at the reception. It is up to you how much color, or how little color, you want. Some of the prettiest weddings weve seen have used multiple colors or shades of the same color throughout the planning of their weddings to the actual event. One color is used for the bridal shower, another color for the ceremony, followed by combining the colors for the reception. Its actually a very easy thing to do that will result in spectacular look. For example, you have selected blue for your wedding color great choice for anytime of the year. Your bridal shower kicks off with a lovely baby blue being used as flowers on your cake, bells, ribbons and decorations are intertwined with baby blue and white and your bridal shower favors also feature something blue and look beautiful sitting on your guests white table cloths. Moving onto your wedding day, you have selected a deeper shade of blue for your bridal party. The bridesmaids dresses are the color of the ocean with your groomsmen bow ties matching. Your bouquet is white or ivory roses or calla lilies intermingled with the blue hydrangeas which carries the color theme elegantly throughout the bridal party. At your reception, you have chosen to add an even deeper hue of blue and now have three gorgeous blue shades throughout the reception location. Your bridal table, guest tables, gift table and cake table all have three different cloths with the deepest blue tablecloth on the top. The other colors peek below as they cascade to the floor. White place settings and napkins sit majestically on the deep blue of the table cloth. Gorgeous tall white candles burn in the center of each table and at each guest seat is a tasteful white candle wedding favor for your guests to take with to remind them of your beautiful wedding day. Your wedding cake is a cascade of white flowers and pale blue ribbons. Beautiful white and blue bows are scattered throughout carrying your colors even further.
