Lose Weight Faster: Cut A Few More Calories Each Day, And Jump Start Your Weight Loss Program

Monday, April 28th, 2008

By Charles Lewis Most dieters find that everything goes well for the first few days or weeks of their diet. They are highly motivated to lose weight, so they stick to it. They probably lose a few pounds, and start feeling good. But then, inevitably, you hit a plateau. Your body adjusts to your new calorie intake and exercise level, and your weight loss slows down or stops. You need a way to jump start your weight loss, and I have found a simple way to do that: Cut a few more calories. Yes, I know, it seems simple, but it works. We all keep track of our calories, but at some point some calories start to creep back into diet that we may not even be aware of. It may be some extra dressing on our salad, or an extra snack during the day. So to jump start your weight loss program, cut back on those extra calories. Every morning when I got to work I would eat a healthy snack, either a piece of fruit, or a granola bar, or whatever. Now, I don’t.I have a healthy breakfast, and I wait until the middle of the morning to have my healthy snack. Then lunch, one healthy snack in the afternoon (not two), a healthy dinner, and then one more healthy snack (a small bowl of cereal) in the evening. Because I am spacing out my eating over the entire day, I don’t each huge quantities of food at any one time, and I don’t get hungry, so I can cut back a few calories, and jump start by weight loss. If you want to lose weight you need to work at it, but cutting just a few more calories is a simple way to jump start your weight loss program and get back on track. As a weight loss success story, Charles Lewis writes about how to lose weight permanently without fads or gimmicks. Beverages and Alcohol: Don’t Let Liquids Sabotage Your Fat Loss

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

By Ross Harrison More people are concerned about their weight and body fat than ever and unfortunately the number of overweight people is still continuing to rise. There are many reasons for this increase in obesity, such as lack of exercise, poor nutritional habits, lack of sleep, and increased stress levels. Changing these or other lifestyle habits can significantly impact your health and physique. This article will focus on the nutritional component; specifically the negative effect that beverages can have on fat and weight gain. In can be easy to forget that many beverages contain a significant amount of calories. For example a 12oz can of soda contains about 150 calories, so if you have just 3 cans per day or possibly even a singe large soda from a convenience store or fast food restaurant, you are adding almost 500 calories to your daily total. Over the course of a week, this can add an extra pound of fat to your body. Adding a large number of calories to your daily total is bad enough, but when these beverages are consumed at mealtimes, the negative effects on fat storage and weight gain become even greater. After you have consumed enough calories to satisfy your bodys energy requirements, any extra calories, including calories from beverages, will end up being stored as fat, regardless if they are calories from fat, carbs, or protein. Plus, if you are drinking beverages contains alcohol, the effects on fat storage are even worse. Alcohol is essentially a toxin and when you drink alcohol, your body reprioritizes how it handles the calories you consume. Normally, your body will break down some of the proteins, fats, and carbs to use as energy for various physiological functions. Then whatever is left over will generally be converted into fat or stored as glycogen. When alcohol is consumed with the other calories, your bodys first priority becomes to process the alcohol (toxin) and get it out of your body as fast as possible. The problem is the normal process of breaking down the other carbs, fats, and proteins becomes less important and more of these calories end up being stored as fat while the body is processing the alcohol. This is not to say that having a small glass of wine with your meal will make everything you eat turn to fat. Instead, higher amounts of alcohol consumed with food will cause your body to store a higher percentage of the calories as fat. Plus, since alcohol has a dehydrating effect, if you dont drink enough water, it will be more difficult to detoxify your body. This is also important, because when it takes longer to process the alcohol, more of the other calories will be stored as fat. The physiology can become confusing, but simply stated, large meals combined with alcoholic beverages will cause your body to store a lot of unnecessary fat. Of course, you will have to get rid of this newly added fat before making positive progress towards your original fat loss goals, so you have to ask yourself whats more important, losing fat or consuming excess amounts of alcohol or other high calorie beverages? If you are truly serious about you health, fitness, and fat loss, the choice is obvious. Plus, if you are putting forth the effort to exercise and develop healthy eating habits, you should be experiencing some positive results. Just be sure to choose drinks that are low in calories and alcohol (water is ideal), because losing fat is difficult enough without beverages sabotaging your success. 5 Lessons your Kids will Learn by Starting a Business

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

By Joelle Davidson Kids need to be kids and enjoy their time as children. But, at the same time, as they get older, they also need to learn to make money and function in our society as responsible adults. Oftentimes, they get a job at a Burger Joint, where they learn how to listen to a boss, and how to work with others, but then they may also have to give up some extracurricular activities, study time and time with family. Not terrible things, but enough of a challenge that many families are helping their kids start their own businesses. Why? Lets compare the lessons your kid is learning working at a burger joint verses starting a business. 1. Responsibility. Burger Joint: Yes, it teaches responsibility. You need to show up for work and do a good job or your boss and co-workers will get mad at you. Entrepreneur: Teaches you responsibility as well. You need to work hard or you wont get paid. 2. The Value of a Dollar Burger Joint: You learn that time is money. Entrepreneur: You learn that creativity, ownership of responsibility and hard work is money. 3. How to Market Yourself Burger Joint: Teaches you how to fill out an application and go on an interview to market yourself. You do this once and then youre done. Entrepreneur: You have to market yourself and your business on an ongoing basis if you want to make any money. 4. Customer Service Burger Joint: Service with a smile or your boss may reprimand you. Entrepreneur: Service with a smile or you dont get repeat business and your income drops. 5. Banking Skills Burger Joint: You learn how to collect a paycheck and how to deposit it into the bank. Entrepreneur: You learn how to budget for advertising costs, taxes, and expenses and weigh them against your profits. You learn to deposit your income into the bank and write checks to cover expenses. You learn how business works. As you can see, both options have benefits. As for which option youll choose? Thats up to you and your child. Joelle Davidson welcomes you to http://www.showkidsthemoney.com where youll find plenty of free information to help your kids start their own businesses. Why Do Bad Things Happen?

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

By Donny Ouyang One of the most common questions people ask is: “Why do bad things happen?” The beginning of “bad things” Bad things happen, very simply, because we live in a fallen world. Our world has been invaded by sin, and the result of sin is decay and death, both physical and spiritual. Adam and Eve were, in a sense, the “test case” for humanity. Could they live without going after the one thing in the Garden of Eden they were not supposed to have? They could not. They chose to disobey God and eat from the “tree of knowledge of good and evil”. God promised that the day they ate from it, they would die. Adam and Eve had lived a perfect life in paradise until that point. They had known no sickness, no death, no hurt. In a real sense they enjoyed “Heaven on Earth”. Then after yielding to temptation, they both ate the forbidden fruit. At this moment, Hell literally broke loose on earth. It came in the form of sickness, death, loss, tragedy, etc. It may have seemed gradual to them, but it didn’t take long for them to realize that life had changed forever. They began to witness death as it crept into every part of creation. Initially there was the death of an animal to provide clothes for the wayward pair. This must have been striking to Adam who had been given dominion over the animal kingdom. Then as they started to age, they watched the decay of the world around them as it slipped from a place of beauty to one of sorrow and loss. Animals died, plants died, people died. The struggle to keep things on an even course was obvious to them. So, in reality, “bad things” happen because we messed up. The result of “bad things” Ever since we left the Garden, humans have had to deal with these negative realities. Some people doubt there ever was a “Garden of Eden”. But, when we ask why bad things happen, it is a clue that we expect things to be better. It reveals a belief that things aren’t supposed to be messed up. If we look around us, we see that this cycle of pain and misery is a part of our normal existence and has been for our whole history. There has never been anyone who has lived free from tragedy. Yet, even though we know bad things are a part of our lives, we reject them as being unacceptable. We suspect there must be something bringing “badness” into our lives and we come to the conclusion that there must be something better. Quite often, when humans go through a tragedy, they will seek answers. Questions like “Why?” or “Why me?” are often lifted toward the heavens. Sometimes the questions are sincere. Sometimes they are accusatory. They are asked by people of faith and by people who deny any faith in the unseen. Whatever the reason, they are being asked. Again, the asking of these questions shows that deep down we know that things are not supposed to be “messed up”. It is in these times that God is able to speak most clearly. In the middle of a tragedy, when we are without the drain of work or other often distracting activities, we are able to hear God answer. These moments cause us to look up and away from ourselves. This is a good thing. This gives us a chance to see and hear from our Creator, the only One who can deliver from or through the “bad things”. He created a perfect world, but shows His love by working in a fallen world to bring us back into a right relationship with Him. Decks For Above Ground Pools: Can Beautify Your Yard As Well

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

By Susan Dean If you think that decks for above ground pools are a waste of time then think again. Most people who have a pool that is above ground do so because they cannot afford the luxury of an inground pool or they are renting the home they are in. This is not there first option as they really want something that looks good but they have to compromise. Well I’m here to tell you that you can still have something that looks good and is still have the benefits of an inground pool for a much cheaper price. By erecting a deck around your pool will not only give you the feel that you are inground but it makes your yard look 10 times better also. You will be able to sit on the edge of your pool and even have chairs and tables if you wish. You don’t have to climb over a ladder but just slip in instead. You will feel much more relaxed being able to sit and look at the water instead of only seeing the outside of the pool. Decks for above ground pools are a fantastic idea for families because you can sit comfortably on the deck while watching your children instead of sitting outside and trying to peer in. This keeps everyone happy. You can have someone design your deck for you and then build it yourself if you are a handy man or you can have someone else build it for you. Most hardware places will be able to sell you the materials needed to do the job. The decks are usually made from decking timber slats and can be finished in different colors to suit your needs. If you have an interest in decks for above ground pools then it would be a very good idea to have a look around online where you will find many quality companies that can help you with not only designs but materials too. These companies will also be happy to give some all important advice on the right and wrong way to do things. Bass Fishing Equipment For Beginners

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

By Tom Williamson We are going to start our lessons with the assumption that you arenew to bass fishing. What I am about to share with you is my own personal opinion forstarting out in the great sport of bass fishing. We will start out with equipment you will need. You will need at least 2 identical rod and reel combo’s. The reasonthat they need to be identical is that it will make it easier for you tolearn how to cast and not have to learn how to use different stylesjust starting out. One reel need to have a heavier line, around 14# test is a goodweight to start. This reel will be used to cast heavier lures suchas plastic worms, spinner baits and jigs.I would have around 10# on the other reel. This reel will be usedto cast smaller lures with. You will need a medium size tackle box and I would suggestpurchasing a few different color plastic worms with some beingdark and some lighter colors. Use the larger, darker worms in dingy water and the lighter colorin clear water. I prefer worms around 7 inches long. I would use 7/16 ozsliding worm sinkers and a size 3 worm hook. You will also need a few 7/16oz spinner baits of different colorsand a few medium running crank baits. Now you need to take your new equipment out to the back yardand practice casting until you are good at hitting your target.Putting your lure in the right spot is a huge part of being asuccessful bass angler. In our next lesson we will talk more about the different typesof plastic worms and when to use each type.We will also discuss the different types of spinner bait blades. I hope this first lesson has been of some help. The Payday Cash Loan - Interest Rates Versus Flat Fees

Monday, April 14th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carrie_Reeder]Carrie Reeder More and more cash advance lenders are charging flat fees instead of interest rates. This has been in response to increased state regulation. By charging a flat fee, lenders can avoid some of the caps put in place by some states. Comparing Interest Rates Interest rates for payday loans are typically higher than other forms of credit since they are small amounts and have a higher risk level. Most online lenders will still use interest rates to determine your loan charge. You may also have to pay a service fee, although most cash advance companies will waive this for first time borrowers. The other interest rate to look at is the APR (annual percentage rate). All lenders, whether they charge by an interest rate or flat fee must disclose this through their website and loan agreement. The point of an APR is to give you a way to make comparisons. However, if you are like the majority of borrowers, you will pay back you loan in 21 or less days and not pay such a high interest charge. Looking At Fees Because some states have placed more limits on cash advance companies, lenders are charging fees rather than interest rates. By doing this, they avoid usury laws. You can still use the APR to make comparisons with these types of companies. You can also divide the fee into the loan amount to get a percent. For instance if the was $18 for a $100 loan, the fee would be 18 or 18%. What You Should Know When you are comparing cash advance companies, you want to be comparing like numbers. That is why APRs can be so helpful. You also want to look at the payment plans and make sure they are equal. Besides loan costs, also look at other fees for extending the loan or for late payments. Also, be sure you can change the payment plan if you cant make immediate payment on your payday. If you think you cant repay your loan by payday, you may want to take a look at other forms of credit. A personal loan or credit card may offer better long term rates. Fishing Tid Bits How To Fish Part 4

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

By Dale Mazurek Well I am back with my fourth article and it is exciting to see how many people are interested in the fun of fishing. These articles are meant for everyone. Some of the more experienced anglers probably know a lot about what I am talking about already but I think back to when I knew nothing about fishing. I wish there would have been something like that. Eventually this will be an eBook so take advantage of it while you can. I have decided to change it up a bit and submit random tips. I hope you enjoy 1. A Sure Fire Way To Find Fish Birds are a great way to find the good fishing spots. In the winter time on the ice you will find the sea gulls and crows gathering at spots where other fishermen have left bait or some of the small fish they caught. During the summer on open water youre going to want to watch for loons and other fish eating ducks. They are most likely diving for minnows but find the minnows and eventually the bigger fish will be there to feed. 2. Yes Fussy Crappies Can Be Caught In the spring time you can usually find the crappies in shallow water under bushes or protected by bank cover. At this point they are preparing to spawn. At this time of the year there not too interested in feeding and especially do shy away from baits and lures. You can however coax in some of the bigger ones by presenting them bait that is as natural as possible. Cast a small minnow with no sinker. By doing this the actions of the minnow will be just natural enough to get those off season crappies biting. 3. A Worm And Bobber When youre using a worm below your bobber you dont want to hook it in the head because you are going to miss your strikes. And the worst thing is those darn fish will steal your bait. You want to hook the worm twice in the middle of the body. This way the bait looks more natural and when a fish bites it is more likely to suck in the worm. 4. Walleye And Busy Lakes So many of our lakes have become so commercialized with weekend warriors. They are populated with jet boats, jet skis, and all sorts of commotion but dont worry the big walleye can still be caught. I would suggest getting to the lake when its still dark. The walleye will be hungry. Youre only going to get a few hours of frenzied fishing but it will be worth it because once the boaters get out there the walleye will make a quick dash to deeper water and their feeding will be done for the day. 5. Careful When You Are Tube Fishing You have to always be aware of your surroundings when you fishing in a float tube. The wind can make things miserable for you. Obviously you are using your hands for fishing so your feet are going to have to do the work. I would suggest tube fishing on smaller dug outs and ponds. If it gets too windy get out because once it takes over it could be a long tiring way back for you. This will be the end of my fourth edition of my series on fishing. Keep reading my articles as they will get more informative and detailed as time goes on. Dale Mazurek Dale is an expert self taught fisherman of more than 35 years.
